Clinical Indications in Orthopedic Trauma The 2.4mm headless cannulated Herbert screw is indicated for small bone fracture management, non-union reconstruction, osteotomy fixation, and arthrodesis:
-
Scaphoid Fractures & Non-Unions: Waist, distal pole, and proximal pole scaphoid fractures managed via open reduction or percutaneous retrograde/antegrade approaches.
-
Hand & Carpal Bone Trauma: Triquetrum, lunate, hamate, and trapezium fractures; metacarpal head/base articular shear fractures; and intercarpal fusions.
-
Phalangeal Intra-Articular Fractures: Unicondylar and bicondylar proximal and middle phalangeal intra-articular fracture stabilization.
-
Radial Head & Capitellum Trauma: Small coronal shear fragments and split osteochondral fractures of the elbow where screw heads would obstruct joint articulation.
-
Forefoot & Midfoot Trauma: Phalangeal osteotomies, chevron osteotomies, small tarsal and metatarsal intra-articular fractures, and proximal interphalangeal (PIP) arthrodesis.
