Clinical Indications in Orthopedic Trauma The 5.0mm cannulated headless screw is indicated for articular trauma reconstruction, osteotomies, non-union stabilization, and joint arthrodesis across medium-to-large skeletal structures:
-
Hindfoot & Tarsal Trauma: Displaced fractures of the talus (neck and body), intra-articular calcaneal fractures, and large cuboid/navicular split fractures.
-
Midfoot & Hindfoot Arthrodesis: Subtalar joint fusion, talonavicular arthrodesis, and calcaneocuboid joint fusion where protruding screw heads would cause painful subcutaneous or intra-articular impingement.
-
Foot & Ankle Osteotomies: Calcaneal sliding osteotomies, Dwyer osteotomies, and corrective midfoot re-alignments requiring high axial compression.
-
Malleolar & Tibial Pilon Fragments: Large Chaput, Wagstaffe, or Volkmann’s (posterior malleolus) articular fragments requiring rigid lag compression without bulky hardware under thin skin envelopes.
-
Knee & Patellar Trauma: Articular split coronal shear fractures of the distal femoral condyles (Hoffa fractures) and coronal patellar fractures.
-
Periprosthetic & Acetabular Augmentation: Supplementary articular fragment lag fixation where conventional screw heads would interfere with joint motion or implant seating.
