6.4mm Leg Screw PFN Nail | Orthopedic Trauma Implants

Clinical Indications in Orthopedic Trauma The 6.4mm leg screw pfn nail  is indicated for stabilizing proximal femoral fractures managed with intramedullary nail systems:

  • Intertrochanteric Fractures: Stable and unstable per trochanteric fractures (AO/OTA 31-A1 and 31-A2) requiring controlled impaction.

  • Sub trochanteric Fractures: High sub trochanteric fractures with trochanteric extension treated with long intramedullary nails.

  • Reverse Obliquity Fractures: Transverse and reverse obliquity trochanteric patterns (AO/OTA 31-A3) prone to severe medial displacement.

  • Osteoporotic Hip Trauma: Fragility fractures in elderly patients requiring robust anchorage in poor bone mineral density to avoid cut-out.

  • Pathological & Impending Trochanteric Fractures: Prophylactic or post-fracture internal fixation of metastatic bone lesions in the proximal femur.

Dynamic Controlled Telescoping

The smooth, cylindrical proximal shank glides freely inside the intramedullary nail barrel, permitting controlled lateral sliding and impaction across the fracture line while preventing medial joint penetration.

High Cut-Out Resistance in Cancellous Bone

Features an optimized wide-buttress cancellous thread with a broad surface area, securing deep anchorage into the femoral head to resist migration, superior cut-out, and the "Z-effect" under full weight-bearing loads.

Cannulated Delivery for High Precision

Engineered with a uniform central cannula that tracks over a 2.8 mm / 3.2 mm guide wire under intraoperative fluoroscopic control, ensuring accurate tip-apex distance (TAD < 20 mm) and central or inferior subchondral positioning.

Self-Tapping Distal Flutes

Reverse-cutting tip geometry cuts clean female threads into dense femoral head bone, venting bone chips, minimizing insertion resistance, and preserving bone stock around the screw threads.

Anti-Torsional Locking Interface

Features precision lateral engagement flats or drive slots that interface with nail stop screws and anti-rotation sleeves, ensuring the screw resists unthreading or spinning during patient mobilization.

Heavy-Duty Fatigue Strength

Fabricated from high-tensile titanium alloy or vacuum-melted 316L stainless steel to withstand high cyclic cantilever bending moments across unstable trochanteric segments.

Traceability

High-resolution permanent laser marking on the screw shank displays diameter, length, and batch lot identification for 100% OR tracking and vigilance compliance.
